Nemeses (ネメシス, Nemeshisu?) are a powerful, mystery race of demonic entities. They spawn from massive eggs that fall the sky at random, before being hatched into their various forms. Nemeses serve a central antagonist to the world at large and also are the catalyst for a Wizard being created.

Appearance

The Nemesis race is very versatile and varied, with a number of different sub-species existing within. They can range from colossal, prehistoric beasts, or even be on the smaller side and look rodents. The only constant seems to be that all Nemeses possess a callous, white-shell over their heads, and each one has a strange marking or insignia tattooed onto some portion of their body.

Physiology

Nemeses are first born from mythical eggs that fall from the eyes, before crash landing onto the surface area. Where these eggs are produced remains a mystery, however, there are legends that suggest that these eggs fall from a Nemesis Nest, aptly referred to as Radiant. Nemesis Infection Manga

Source Nemeses

The Nemesis that is spawned from the descended egg is known as the Source Nemesis. The Source is typically a large, resilient monster that often goes on to lay waste to the area around them. Their mere presence appears to be toxic not only to the environment, but to human beings in general, and as such, physical contact will more often than not leave to a swift demise. Those that survive contact with a Source Nemesis, however, become infected and gain the ability to wield Fantasia. In addition, Source Nemeses are able to reproduce in some form, creating Echo Nemeses.

Echos

Source and Echos

Echo Nemeses

Echo Nemeses are creatures spawned by the Source Nemesis. In most cases, they appear to always possess a lesser capacity for destructive potential. Echo Nemeses are often employed for usage in scouting, and while they are typically smaller and weaker, can overwhelm opponents with their sheer numbers. Unlike the original, these Nemeses lack the potential to corrupt others or spawn additional sorcerers.

Abilities and Powers

The extent of a Nemesis' power varies based on the species in addition to how long it's been allowed to mature. The average Nemesis harbors enough power to easily decimate most human beings. Their strength often requires the coordinate effort from an entire squadron of Inquisitors to be at risk. Exceptionally strong members even may require the combined efforts of multiple sorcerers.

Fantasia Manipulation

Nemeses appear to be the progenitors to the manipulation of Fantasia. It is due to their influence that human beings are potentially able to mimic their special abilities and become sorcerers in their own right. However, a Nemesis need not a conduit, nor any other material to gather Fantasia for their own use. It appears that the ability to gather and fire off the magical power is an ability that is inherent with the species, and thus requires no special training to produce.

Nevertheless, based on the specific sub-species, a Nemesis may be able to use their Fantasia for other, varying techniques. The primary form, however, appears to be in the form of simple beams, or concentrated burst of magical blasts.

Physical Prowess

The Nemesis species appear to always possess some form of superhuman strength, agility, endurance and high resilience. A single assault from these fiends can fell the typical human, with only sorcerers and elite Inquisitors being able to go toe-to-toe with their brutish physical might.

More than anything, however, the Nemeses are extremely resilient - so much that they appear to be impervious normal means of combat. The only known method of reliable fighting a Nemesis is through usage of Fantasia, as the mystical source of energy seems to ignore their normally impervious forms. Some have shown to be exceptionally capable of continuing a bout even when their bodies have been damaged severely, with one continuing to battle even as a massive hole punctured its belly.

Nemeses often showcase above average speeds, as well as the ability for limited regeneration. It seems that to truly defeat a Nemesis, the individual must utterly annihilate the creature to the point where they can't repair themselves.

For all intents and purpose, a Nemesis is wholly toxic to humankind. Mere contact alone is enough for their corrupting influence to take a hold of the human unfortunate enough to be within their path. On contact, it seems that the victim's bodies are draped in a shroud of fantasia - which is noted to be incredibly dangerous to the human body.

Contact with a Nemesis is said to be much like being struck my lightning. In this case, physical contact envelops the target in a shroud of destructive Fantasia. In an instant, most humans are vaporized. However, there remain a minority that are able to survive the encounter, and thus gain the ability to use Fantasia in the same fashion that a Nemesis can. In addition, the Nemesis curses the human, leaving them with a random form of an infection.

Species

Nemeses appear to have an extremely adaptable physiology, from which a wide variety of different subspecies may come to exist within the overarching race. Due to this extreme diverse, each encounter with a new Nemesis tend to provide a distinctive experience. Every species of Nemeses hold their own set of strengths, weaknesses, Fantasia abilities, and even temperaments.
