Nemesis (ネメシス, Nemeshisu?) are a mystery race of demonic beings that fall from the skies at apparent random. Most Nemesis appear to possess destructive nature, and direct contact with them are often fatal. Nevertheless, those who are able to survive an encounter with a Nemesis are forever changed, gaining the capacity to manipulate fantasia, and being cursed to live the rest their life with an infection of some sort.
Appearance
Nemesis come in many different sizes and shapes. Each Nemesis appearance is unique, no one looks like the other. Some look like giant animals, other are more like geometric shapes. Whenever a person comes into contact with a Nemesis that person become infected or die.
Each infection is different and so far incurable. When a person becomes infected they also become Sorcerers, human beings able to wield the magical flow of energy called Fantasia, being able to use it to defeat the Nemesis.
Overview
The true origin of the Nemesis is shrouded in mystery. No one knows quite where they originate from, nor how they manage to fall out from the sky out of nowhere. However, there is a popular legend that suggests that these Nemesis come from a legendary, sacred location known as Radiant.
Nemesis manifest on Earth in the form of an egg. While the egg's shell is extremely durable, it can be damaged, which can presumably lead to an early emergence of the Nemesis within. The spawned entity is aptly known as the Source Nemesis and thus can infect humans. Nemesis are also able to reproduce, creating what are known as Echo Nemesis - which are typically smaller and less powerful than the source. In addition they lack the capacity to infect humans.
Abilities and Powers
Undoubtedly a powerful species, the skill set of a Nemesis can vary from race to race. However, most Nemesis all seem to possess a baseline or bare minimum.
Fantasia Manipulation
All Nemesis appear to harbor the innate ability to gather fantasia from the surrounding area. They normally employ it to fire off dense beams of energy to vaporize their targets with. Other Nemesis may have more sophisticated measures of using their fantasia, but almost all can use it in this basic capacity.
Physical Prowess
Nemesis appear to possess abnormally more potent physical attributes in some shape or form. They usually boast superior strength, speed, or dexterity - or even a combination of those three - when compared to humans. The variance in these physical attributes only become more apparent when you begin to examine the particular species among this race.
Infections
This power is exclusively reserved for the Source Nemesis. Humans who come in contact with the Nemesis are at risk of gaining an infection, as well as the ability to manipulate fantasia and pursue life as a sorcerer. Others who come into this form of contact succumb to the threat and perish.
Species
The Nemesis appear to be an extremely diverse race with a plethora of subspecies or variation within their group. Each seem to have their own set of powers, strength, and even temperaments.
Colossal
Giant creatures that never walks in group. Usually violents, they possess an incredible power of destruction.
Usually where a Colossal Nemesis lay grows a special kind of tree, that instead of leaves has feathers and a huge amount Fantasia flow, those feathers are used to create magical items such as brooms and gloves.
Echo
Echo Nemesis are always seen in groups, they are divided in two groups: the Source and the Echo itself.
The Echoes are just a simple amount of the power that comes from the Source and create a Nemesis-like creature that takes the same form as the Source. As they are not real Nemesis they are smaller, cannot infect people and hold almost no power. Their main mission is to search for a place where the Souce Nemesis can lay rest or use its full power of destruction.
The Source on the other hand, as the main Nemesis, are always bigger and powerful. The Source is the only one who can infect a human. Like the Colossal Nemesis, Sources also cause the appearance of feathered trees. It's said that Sources and Echoes can communicate amongst themselves but no one ever proved that theory.
Spectrum
Spectrum Nemesis are a special type of Nemesis that often appears in Caislean Merlin.
Spectrums are hologram projections of real Nemesis. Their physical bodies are put in a kind of projector and only their energy is projected. Even without a physical form their power of destruction are notable as the projection makes them thousand of times bigger than they really are.
